Young gun Jeremy Cason of Walter State Golf Team has entered the local golf scene with a win in the Lakeway Invitational at Millstone by beating locals Tim Moore, Tony Patterson and Andy Holt by three and five shots respectively. Cason had previously won the First Flight in the Patriot Hills 2-Man with Walter State teammate Caleb Whaley as the pair turned in the low score of 58 in that event.
Cason was tied with Moore after the first round with two-under 70 scores. Moore equaled his first round score but Cason posted a four-under 68 for the victory.
Tony Patterson who settled for the runner-up spot two years earlier finished tied for third with scores of even par and one-under. Holt came in at 73-70.
In the First Flight Tyler Clapp improved by six shots on Sunday to beat local Millstone employee Scott Hayes and James Fender by two shots.
Hayes and Fender both improved by four shots.
In the Second Flight it was Josh Henrich who made the move of the day with scores of 78-70 to win by three shots over Brandon Sexton. Darryl Helton was a distant third.
The Senior Division which featured the largest flight was won by Mike Poe who scored the medal scores for the tournament at 66-69 to win by two over local legend Mike Mills. The Greeneville gang of Tim Dinnwiddle and Jimmy Whittenburg finished third and fourth with their welcome to the senior class of talent.
